Building water and waste management systems lies at the core of what CDD does. Civil and environmental engineers form a core of our team. Their work includes -    Research and development – creating new bodies of knowledge; Design of  engineering systems for sanitation; Implementation support – converting designs to reality;     Dissemination – Training, publications, guest lectures; and Project Management. Supporting our engineerings, are MBA graduates, social workers and others.

Ganapathy P.G. (PG)

Director (Programs), CDD Society
PG is an infrastructure and sustainability professional who brings with him around 25 years of experience in the infrastructure sector spanning water & sanitation, housing & real estate, urban infrastructure and sustainability. Currently, he is Director of Programs at CDD and he drives strategic initiatives, outreach activities and projects in the Water Body rejuvenation domain.
Till recently, he was a Senior Advisor at CDD and Consultant (Special Projects) at Wipro where he program-managed specific sustainability initiatives. In the past, he has been a Senior Advisor and adjunct faculty at IIHS, an Advisor to the Infrastructure Development Corporation of Karnataka (iDecK), an external infrastructure specialist consultant at Mckinsey & Co., Strategic Advisor to JUSCO and consultant to the FIRE Capital Fund. He was the Founder and Director-in-charge at Ecofirst Services, a sustainable design consultancy which offers infrastructure and services design to large buildings and township projects. He has also worked as an individual consultant with the World Bank and the ADB in the urban sector.
Prior to this, PG held senior positions in several corporations: he was the Regional Manager for South Asia in the water division of Black & Veatch (B&V), worked with the Mahindra Group in their real estate and infrastructure division, and worked for 9 years (of which 6 years as a partner) in the start-up phase of Feedback Ventures.

Manas Rath

Honorary Advisor, BORDA South Asia
At BORDA and CDD Society, Manas focuses primarily on developing business models for increasing coverage of sanitation services in under-developed communities, overseeing projects and developing partnerships particularly in the private sector. He is founder of Blue Water Company, which aims to deliver world-class FSM (Faecal Sludge Management) and Wastewater Management services to smaller cities and campuses, to reduce water pollution and increase re-use of treated wastewater.
Earlier, he was a Director at Dasra, and supported social enterprises to become more effective and scale. At investment bank Avendus Capital, he helped growth companies to raise equity from global private equity investors. He was also COO of a high-end electronics manufacturing and exports firm.
Manas is a graduate of MIT and the Sloan School of Management and has attended programs at the University of Chicago-Booth School of Business. He serves on the Indian Governments’ Swachh Bharat Task Force and is advisor to social start-ups and non-profit organizations including Fitternity.com, Shelter Associates, Football Link and the Yunus Corporate Action Tank. He is a Reiki Master and teacher.

Stanzin Tsephel

With 14 years of experience of financial and management expertise, Stanzin Tsephel currently serves as Program Coordinator for the South Asia region for BORDA.

Mr. Rajesh Pai

Honorary Technical Advisor, BORDA Pvt. Ltd.
Rajesh has completed his Bachelor’s in Civil Engineering from Manipal University as well as a Professional Certificate Course on Urban Infrastructure Planning from Centre for Environmental Planning and Technology (CEPT), Ahmedabad. He has over 15 years of experience in the development sector mainly in the implementation of sanitation related projects of various scales. His expertise lies in the planning, design and implementation of projects in liquid and solid waste management; with a focus on community based sanitation projects, decentralised wastewater treatment projects (DEWATS), public sanitation and faecal sludge management in peri-urban areas. He also has vast experience in handling technical designs, project management, research and development, capacity building. He has also delivered a host of trainings ranging from rural/urban sanitation, to conservation of natural resources and environmental protection in coordination with beneficiary communities. With experience working in 3 countries ( India, Bangladesh and Nepal), clients Rajesh has worked with include The Asian Development Bank, The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, and Governments of Tamil Nadu and Karnataka
In 2016, Rajesh was adjudged Tech Icon of the Year in the second edition of the India Today Safaigiri Summit and Awards.

Ms. Susmita Sinha

Honorary Technical Advisor, BORDA Pvt. Ltd.
Susmita Sinha is an Environmental Management professional with over 16 years of work experience in the environmental sector. She was associated with BORDA-CDD Society for 16 years. Her specialization lies in urban environmental management with a focus on sanitation. She has extensive experience with community based sanitation approaches, faecal sludge management, coordinating research activities, wastewater monitoring and analysis as well as developing capacity building programs.
In 2016, The Global Knowledge Management Congress & Awards recognised Susmita as one of the 50 Most Influential Knowledge Management Professionals for the year.

Debisha Sharma

After graduating in Sanskrit from Fergusson College in Pune, Debisha Sharma went on to do a MSW (Public Health) from TISS, Mumbai.This switch was a result of her experience as a volunteer during her under-grad days - with SWaCHCH, an organization that works for the rights of rag-pickers. This stint introduced her to the complexities in the solid waste management space and the lives of the most vulnerable groups dealing with it – rag-picking women. It was during this time that she was introduced to Public Health as an academic discipline too.During her fieldwork at TISS, she interacted with local fishermen communities, studied their water, sanitation and hygiene status,worked in Malaria-endemic areas and more. This experience sparked in her an interest in cleanliness and sanitation – which is what attracted her to CDD Society.

G. S. Santhosh

G. S. Santhosh is a civil engineer who joined CDD Society in June 2013. During his tenure at CDD, he has designed numerous wastewater treatment systems. He was also part of the team that designed India’s first-of-its-kind faecal sludge treatment plant. He has studied Sanitation engineering at UNESCO – IHE, Netherlands with a scholarship from the Netherlands government. For his Masters thesis and field work, he spent four months in Africa. At CDD, he is currently using his skills to redesign and re-imagine the historic lakes of Coimbatore city. His passion is teaching, and as of date, he has trained more than 65% of the government engineers in Tamil Nadu on sanitation.

Isha Dash

An Oriya brought up in Delhi, Isha has completed a B.Sc. in Micro Biology (Gargi College, Delhi), M.Sc. in Environmental Studies (TERI University) and post graduation in Rural Management (IRMA). When at IRMA, she developed an interest for the environment sector through subjects like Solid Waste Management and CSR and through youth engagement activities.
This was strengthened during an internship at TERI, which took her to rural areas. She realised how man was destroying his only home, that too to serve a small population. Outside of work, she enjoys reading a good book, good music and has great passion for food.

Kamlesh Sharma

Kamlesh was born and brought up in Chhattisgarh but follows the culture of his native state, Rajasthan. After completing school in Ambikapur, Chhattisgarh, he went on to do a B.Tech in Civil Engineering from Vellore Institute of Technology. Though his passion is story telling and film making, he is currently working at CDD Society as a sanitation expert for the Government of Rajasthan. Based out of Jaipur, he trains government engineers, councilors and mayors from municipaities and CEOs on sanitation. Has created three short films on sanitation in his first 6 months, more movies yet in the making. His other hobbies include painting, dancing and film-making. He also enjoys playing snooker and cricket.

Kartik Narad

Born has been raised in a spiritual environment till the age of 15. He has lived in many cities, and hence is exposed to different cultures and languages. After pursuing his under-graduation in Civil Engineering, he joined CDD, hoping to serve the sanitation sector.

Krisha Swaroop

Krishna Swaroop holds a degree in Computer Science & Engineering from Gayatri Vidya Parishad College of Engineering, Visakhapatnam and a Post Graduate Diploma in Rural Management from the IRMA. He has over seven years of work experience in Project Management, Bid Process Management, Business Process Reengineering, Strategy Formulation and Proposal Preparation. Prior to CDD Society, he was a Consultant in the Government Advisory Practice of KPMG and worked with Utilities (Water Supply & Power Distribution), Municipal Administration & Urban Development, and Horticulture departments. He has also worked as a software engineer at Cognizant Technology Solutions.
He closely follows Tennis (a huge fan of Roger Federer), Formula 1 and Cricket. His other hobbies include playing cricket and volleyball, watching movies, and reading.

Nikhil Gampa

Nikhil holds an Engineering Degree (Bio-technology) from the National Institute of Technology, Durgapur and a Masters in Social Entrepreneurship from Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), Mumbai. His professional experience includes working with CSIR Labs on implementing various decentralized clean technologies. At TISS, he started Green Wave, a project which develops innovative clean technologies by effectively recycling/reusing waste and simultaneously providing livelihood to ~15 women.
His hobbies include reading and travelling. He has visited 18 of India's states and prefers staying with local communities when travelling.

Prerna Prasad

Prerna was born and brought up in Jamshedpur. After her schooling from Carmel Junior College, a missionary run school, she moved to Ranchi to pursue a Bachelor's in Water Engineering and Management. It was a five-year course but she pulled out at the end of the fourth year and moved to TISS, Mumbai to study Water Policy and Governance.
Having voluntarily kept herself away from all forms of social media, Prerna prefers to spend her time reading non-fiction books, watching TED talks, drawing, and of late, trekking too.


A Civil Engineer from Sastra University, Ragasamyutha joined CDD Society in July 2017. Her first project was designing Tamil Nadu’s first grey water treatment facility in the Nilgiris. Currently, she is designing rejuvenation systems for lakes in Bangalore. Her passion is sketching , and she is happy to to use this skill to imagine what the future of lakes is going to be.

Tanay Timblo

A native of Goa, Tanay joined CDD Society this month after completing his Masters in Urban & Regional Planning (M.U.R.P) from Centre for Environmental Planning & Technology (CEPT) University in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. From a young age, Tanay has been pained by the irresponsible disposal of garbage and pollution of rivers in his beautiful state. The deterioration of Goa’s beauty over the years is what motivated him to study urban planning. His other interests include sketching, painting and travelling. As part of the CSP team, he will be working in Rahul’s team and will be posted to Shimla soon.

Tarika Vaswani

Tarika holds a BA in Economics from St. Xavier’s College, Mumbai; and a MA in Sociology from S.N.D.T., Mumbai. She has 9 years of nonprofit experience - 8 years at the Mumbai-based GiveIndia and 1 year with Magic Bus USA in New York City, through the Atlas Corps Fellowship. Her interest in waste management attracted her to CDD Society. With experience in digital marketing and donor communication, she is primarily involved in Marketing and Communications at CDD Society.
