The Position: Senior Training Design Specialist Reports to: Director of CASS

Location: The position is based in Bangalore, Karnataka. Role involves frequent inter-state travel to deliver Train the Trainer Sessions and to supervise Training Delivery Sessions by New and Upcoming Trainers.

Job Description:

The Senior Trainer will be part of CASS’s team. In this position, you will work directly with stakeholders and key resource persons (internal staff) to increase their capacity to effectively design, develop, deliver, and evaluate training on DEWATs, Faecal Sludge Treatment & Management and the other sanitation topics. You will support upcoming trainers to improve their skills through mentoring and coaching on effective training design and delivery. You will also work with clients to co-develop training materials that will be on specific sanitation solutions and other sanitation related needs. You will feedback these experiences to members of Technical Team (key resource persons), to support them in the design of relevant and timely online and face-to-face training materials.

 

This is a demanding role that requires a creative, motivated, and enthusiastic person who wants to contribute to building the capacity for developing and implementing sanitation solutions nationally. As an ideal candidate, you will have a proven track record of designing courses for adults, with a focus on content for national audiences, as well as extensive experience developing and delivering workshops or courses for participants who work in the public agencies and departments as well as participants who have technical, science and engineering qualifications.

 

An approximate breakdown of your role can be summarized as:

Education:

Essential

Postgraduate degree in engineering, environmental science, environmental management, public health, or international aid and development.

Desirable

Qualifications or Certificate in in instructional design, education, adult education, or equivalent.

Certified Train the Trainer designation would be an asset.

 

Experience:

Essential

Minimum 3 years of experience:

Training design and delivery with focus on at least one of the following areas: capacity building, participatory training, curriculum development, effective facilitation skills, mentoring, and coaching.

Designing, developing, delivering, and evaluating participatory adult learning workshops or courses.

Desirable:

  • Experience working in water, sanitation, and hygiene sector in low-income countries 
  • Experience designing and delivering online training (an asset).
  • Knowing multiple Indian languages

A project engineer is a part of the technical team at CDD Society. Programme Manager

The Programme Manager shall be directly overseeing grant and non - grant projects. S/He will be responsible for conceptualizing, designing, delivering and documenting various projects related to wastewater and water body management. In addition the manager shall also be responsible for developing a team of professionals trained in designing and implementing sanitation infrastructure projects.

Job Description:

The project engineer will be a part of the technical team at CDD Society and would be responsible for carrying out the following tasks:

1. FSTP operations related-

• Manage day to day operations of the FSTP, which would include receiving the faecal sludge from the desludging vehicles on site (with a proper record of the same as per existing practise), ensuring all the protocols related to FSTP, desludging services & Co-composting plants are adhered to

• Noting the daily activities/input data and any other information as required on site and as per instructions of the Program Manager for records

• Collecting and documenting information for research & development activities

• Maintain proper account and records of the expenditures incurred on the site and reporting of the same at the end of each month to the accounts Department including the FSTP and any other site as per the directions of the Program Manager

• Supervise any construction or repair & maintenance related activities in the FSTP

• Managing and supervising the activities of any contractor, consultant, service provider appointed for any part of the operations at the FSTP

• Maintaining daily attendance on the site of the labourers, visitors, employees etc. and reporting of the same on a monthly basis to the management

• Co-ordinate with the officials of the Town Municipal Council, Devanahalli, accounts Department and other teams of CDD Society on a continuous basis

• Manage site exposure visits by visitors including making necessary arrangements for such visits including necessary co-ordination and communications.

Water Resource Engineer

Background:

CDD Society as a consortium partner for the Eco-Restoration of 8 Lakes in Tamil Nadu project has applied to be appointed PMC-Design Audit for the same. The project is estimated to be completed in two years. 

 

CDD Society has already completed the master plan for eco-restoration of a few lakes. During preparation of these master plans, we studied existing scenarios and problems of water and wastewater components of the 8 lakes, analysed, assessed and developed schematic diagrams and sketches for all the proposed solutions. These master plan proposals will be implemented through the EPC (Engineering Procurement Contract) method. The firm assigned PMC-Design Audit will be responsible for checking and reviewing all detailed engineering drawings (water related components) done by the EPC contractor.

 

About the Position:

The Water Resource Engineer’s core responsibility is to plan and design various infrastructure related to Lakes, Rivers and Nallahs. Hence, the candidate must possess knowledge and experience in construction supervision of water related infrastructure projects. This is a full-time position and for the first 2 years, the candidate will work on a specific project. The candidate will be based in Tamil Nadu (preferably Coimbatore) and will report to the Senior Project Manager, who sits CDD Society’s office in Bangalore. 

 

Eligibility Criteria:

The candidate should have completed a Masters in Water Resources Management and/or Engineering and have upto 3-4 years of experience OR completed a BE in Civil Engineering and have upto 5-6 years of experience in planning, designing and implementing lake and other water bodies infrastructure construction projects.

 

Those with overseas experience will be given priority.

 

Other qualifications include: 

  • Strong communication skills in English and Tamil
  • Ability to oversee Bill of Quantities, time and cost estimates
  • In-depth knowledge of modern construction technologies for water bodies

  • Planning and Designing of pump systems, pipelines for water or wastewater conveyance

The candidate should have completed a Masters in Construction Management and/or Engineering and have a minimum experience of 10 years in construction projects. Preferable experiences are in the field of lake or river infrastructure development.

  • Check quality of materials used and inform contractor for corrective actions (if any deviations)
  • Check and verify deviations of quantity of materials used 
  • Assess the need for any change in design according to site conditions and advise on corrective measures

  • Attending regular project review meetings with Coimbatore City Municipal Corporation (CCMC) officials, PMC smart city, other PMCs and Contractors
